Our Story
Before Bloomfield, our founder spent twenty years inside schools, in classrooms, safeguarding meetings, and as a Director of Wellbeing. She watched quietly anxious children do their best to cope. She sat in safeguarding conversations where the signs were only ever clear in hindsight. She watched capable adults carry more than anyone around them realised.
Across all of it, one pattern kept emerging. By the time someone reached a therapist, the struggle had often been building for a long time. And so often, what would have helped most was something they were never taught. How to understand their own mind, how to recognise what stress does to the body, and how to build the skills and understanding that support lasting wellbeing.
Bloomfield was built on a simple conviction that came from those years. Mental fitness can be taught. Not just restored after something breaks, but built early, the way we build physical health, long before a crisis makes it urgent. And it deserves care that is both deeply human and grounded in evidence.
So we work on both sides. Our clinicians provide therapy and assessment with the depth that real change requires. Thoughtful matching of the right clinician to each person, and work that addresses causes rather than symptoms. And alongside the clinical work, we teach. In schools, in workplaces, in the community, helping people build the mental fitness that makes the hardest days survivable and the ordinary days better.
We believe people heal best when they feel deeply understood, and that no one exists in isolation. Children, adolescents and adults are shaped by the systems around them, including families, schools, workplaces and communities. Lasting change comes from supporting individuals and strengthening the environments in which they live, learn and work.
We take this seriously enough to measure it. Bloomfield partners with researchers to study and document our preventative work, guided by our Wellbeing Scientist in Residence, a professor with a doctorate in positive psychology. What we teach is evidenced, not assumed.
That is the work of Bloomfield. Therapy with depth, and the teaching that should sit alongside it.
