Assessment | Training & Supervision CDA And DOH Licensed Psychologist
Dr. Brettjet Cody is a licensed psychologist with the Community Development Authority of Dubai and the Department of Health Abu Dhabi, bringing more than a decade of clinical, assessment, academic, and supervisory experience to Bloomfield. She holds a Ph.D. in School/Clinical Child Psychology from The University of Texas at Austin, an APA-accredited doctoral program, and is also a Nationally Certified School Psychologist and Licensed Specialist in School Psychology.
Dr. Cody provides psychotherapy and comprehensive psychological assessment across children, adolescents, and adults. She has particular expertise in evaluating complex diagnostic and developmental concerns, including ADHD, autism spectrum disorder, intellectual and developmental disabilities, learning disorders, executive functioning difficulties, and emotional and behavioral concerns. Her assessment work integrates cognitive, academic, adaptive, developmental, and socioemotional data to clarify presenting concerns, support differential diagnosis, and develop practical recommendations for clients, families, schools, and other professionals.
A central focus of Dr. Cody's work is helping clients understand not only what a diagnosis may be, but also what the findings mean in everyday life. She approaches assessment as a collaborative process designed to provide clear, defensible conclusions and meaningful guidance regarding treatment, educational planning, accommodations, and ongoing support.
Prior to joining Bloomfield, Dr. Cody served as an Associate Professor in the Department of Cognitive Sciences at United Arab Emirates University, where her work bridged clinical practice, teaching, research, and mental health leadership. She was a strong advocate for expanding student wellbeing and mental health services on campus, while also leading research focused on psychological and educational assessment, including the evaluation and cultural adaptation of assessment instruments and validation work involving Arabic-language measures. Her academic and clinical background allows her to bring a rigorous, evidence-based, and culturally responsive perspective to psychological practice in the UAE.
Dr. Cody also has extensive experience in clinical supervision, consultation, professional training, and graduate education, having supervised and taught master's-level trainees and supported the development of early-career professionals. At Bloomfield, she contributes not only through direct clinical and assessment services, but also through professional supervision, workshops, training, and the continued development of high-quality assessment and clinical practices across the team.
Her work is grounded in the belief that psychological services should be both scientifically rigorous and genuinely useful. Dr. Cody helps individuals and families move from uncertainty toward greater understanding, clarity, and a practical path forward.
