Katrina Spartalis
Founder And Clinical Director
CDA Licensed Clinician
Katrina Spartalis (B.Ed, PgDipPsych, M.A. Counselling) is a highly experienced Australian counsellor with a diverse background supporting both young people and adults through their mental health journeys. Her academic training includes a B.A. in Education from the University of New South Wales, a Graduate Diploma of Psychology from the University of Sydney, and an M.A. in Counselling from the University of New England, Australia, giving her a comprehensive and empathetic foundation for the work she does today.
With a professional career spanning over twenty years, Katrina has held roles as a secondary school teacher, safeguarding lead, Director of Wellbeing and school counsellor. For more than a decade, she has combined this school-based work in Dubai with clinical practice as a counselling psychologist at Dubai Community Health Centre. That diverse background, spanning education, safeguarding, school leadership and clinical practice, shaped a clear vision for what Bloomfield should be: a place where care is both deeply human and clinically excellent, grounded in real relationships as much as in evidence and expertise. That vision became the founding purpose of Bloomfield.
Her scope of practice is extensive, covering children aged four to eighteen, adults, families and couples. Her clinical approach draws strongly on cognitive behavioural therapy within a person centred framework, combining structured, evidence based tools with a warm, empathetic relationship at the core of every session. This creates a safe, non-judgemental space where clients are met with genuine authenticity and trust, and where Katrina's non-directive style empowers them to explore their thoughts and feelings at their own pace, respecting that meaningful growth is a gradual process built on each person's own timeline.
Katrina is deeply passionate about mental fitness and regularly delivers talks to the community on the topic, working to raise the standard of wellbeing across the region. Beyond individual practice, she has delivered numerous trainings and workshops for counsellors, parents and other professionals, presented at international counselling conferences, written editorial articles on mental health and wellbeing, delivered a series of radio talks on raising children in the digital age, and written a children's book on emotion regulation.
As a licensed social counsellor with the Community Development Authority (CDA), Katrina holds herself to the highest professional standards. She is a member of the Australian Psychological Society and the Australian Counselling Association. She is passionate about fostering personal growth, and champions the wellbeing of individuals across all ages and cultures with an unwavering commitment to those she serves.
